The University of Toledo will celebrate the inauguration of Dr. James Holloway as the University’s 19th president with a ceremony Thursday, Oct. 16, in Savage Arena.

Selected following an extensive national search, Dr. Holloway began his tenure as UToledo’s president July 15, 2025.

A nuclear engineer, Dr. Holloway’s career has been a mix of research, teaching, administration and global work, including in India, Ethiopia and Ghana. He joined UToledo from the University of New Mexico, where he had served as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs since July 2019.

Dr. Holloway will share his vision for UToledo and his key priorities to grow enrollment, strengthen research and support the community.
